My Title Blocks

I initiated by looking on the internet for all sorts of fonts; here are some I have created. They are my initial ideas as they will help me with the creation of my custom title block later on in the course as I will build other fonts from these ideas to create an exclusive and fashionable title block.  

I then used illustrator to play around with the colors of the my chosen title block. Finally i have decided to use my third font option as my official title bock  which includes a blue fill with a black outline. 

Audience and Institution

This is the research that I have done on magazine publishing companies using their websites to become more familiar with each institution and their audiences.  

Title Block Analysis

 This is my analysis' of title blocks from the three best selling magazines I have analysed them so that I am able to get familiar with the way the fount styles reflect on the type of style, genre and audience the magazine is aimed at.

Planning my music magazine

My target audience for my magazine will be teenagers aged 12-18 who are interested in mainstream music, articles and artist’s work and life interests, as my questionnaire results show that all the people that have answered my questionnaire were under the age of 18. My magazine should involve mainstream music that outlines the genre Hip-Hop/rap as they were the top rated within the questionnaire. By involving the magazine with mainstream music I will be able draw attention to people interested in the latest music’s as they are normally the ones who buy a larger amount of music magazines for the fact that they like to keep up to date with the latest music, in addition I have chosen mainstream music because it would increase sales.

Due the results of my questionnaire I have discovered that the people that have answered my questionnaire buy music magazines once a month although the majority would like to buy a magazine that was released once a week there for I have decided that my magazine will be released every fortnight so that I can have a balance between both responses.

The results of my questionnaire indicate that 68.8% of people are willing to pay between £1-£2 for their music magazine so I have taken that into consideration as well as the price it would cost me to manufacture the magazine and how much profit I would like to make, from that I have decided to charge £1.90 for each copy as my target audience are teenagers and do not have their own income to afford an expensive magazine.

I have made the choice of making my magazine with a glossy cover because it looks more appealing as the pictures tend to standout more, also a glossy cover guaranties that the magazine can last longer as its rips less easily.

Analysis of my questionnaire results

This is the questionnaire I have created before I decided important features about my music magazine, these are the results I have gathered and the conclusions I have made:

Analysis of ‘Vibe’ magazine - front cover

The reason I have decided to analysis the front cover of 'Vibe' magazine is because it has the same genre as I have planned on using within my magazine. Therefore by me identifying the plan of layout and construction as well as the formation of text and images that have been used, I am able to discover how it appeals to their target audience.

The reason that I have decided to analysing the content page of a music magazine is so that I am able to gain knowledge on how magazines lay out their contents page with relation to their front cover and their genre.

Analysis of ‘Vibe’ magazine - double page article

The reason I have decided to analyse the double page article of a music magazine is so that I am able to identify the technique of layouts and assembly used within the article together with the arrangement of text and images. Additionally I am trying to identify  if the layout of a magazine changes depending on the different types of genre.
